Saint Croix or St. Croix is an island in the Caribbean Sea, and with its 45 by 11 km. the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, which today belongs to the United States. The capital, Christiansted. There are two towns on the island, Christiansted and Frederiksted.
The total population is 50,000 people on the island. Residents are called " Crucians " and English is the most common language, but some Creole and Spanish are also used. Point Udall on the island is the easternmost spot in the United States. The terrain is hilly. The highest point on the island is Mount Eagle with 355 m. HOVENSA is located on St. Croix and is one of the largest oil refineries. Rum Distillery was established in 1760 and in recent years Cruzan Rum, along with Bacardi from Puerto Rico and Goslings Bermuda, helped breathe life into "single barrel " super -premium rooms . Every year in April, there will be a great food and wine festival in Saint Croix, which brings together many happy gourmets a whole week. On Saint Croix as an island in the karabiske Sea, you will find of course miles of beautiful beaches where you can engage in all manner of watersports, fishing, boating and of course you can just enjoy the sun, the heat in the delicious breeze. |
